mixtapes, mix cds, what have you.

so i keep jumping into these mixtape trades with people because a) i love making tapes, b) i get sick of only listening to my own tapes all of the time & c) it's more fun to get tapes from other people. the only problem is that every fucking time, i make some amazingly kick-ass mix for someone, only to get shafted on the return end. now that the weather is getting warmer, i kind of just want to hang out on my porch drinking lemonade & listening to tapes on a boombox. anyway, my point is: if i set-up & organized a series of mixtape/mix cd trades through this board, would anybody actually be interested? basically, i'd pair you up with someone, you'd make mixes for each other & we'd repeat the process on a monthly/bi-monthly/whatever basis as long as people were still into it. i'll even do all of the hard work of setting it up because i think this would be awesome & i'd like to see it happen. for the hell of it, let's say you'd sign up by next week, i'd give you your partner's information & the first round of trades would happen the first week of may. maybe we could even do themed mix trades? the possibilities are endless.

if you want in, message me with the following information:
-format preference (tape, cd, or either)
-anything you'd want your mix partner to know (like you fucking hate morrissey, so they better not put any of that shit on there)
-if you want it to be extra fun & get your mix in the mail, your mailing address

i probably usually get shafted because the organized trades i've participated in weren't geographically specific, so the random person in south dakota or wherever had no reason to fear my wrath if they didn't mail me a mix because they're never going to run into me & reap the consequences. you guys, on the other hand...

i think i'm probably the only person who doesn't do the sendspace/ysi thing. i kind of want to keep these organized trades strictly tape/cd so that it's more of a one-on-one thing, but if y'all wanted to get really ambitious & make downloadable mixes too, more power to you. i'm just a purist when it comes to this shit. maybe we could make a sticky thread after the trade deadline for people to post their downloadable mixes?

do we want a theme this time? we could do it free-form this time & maybe do summer-themed mixes next time? but since people actually seemed interested in this, here's the deadlines.
